Why We Install GAF Shingles on Calgary Homes

When homeowners ask us which shingles we recommend, our answer is almost always GAF. It's not just habit. Here's why we trust GAF to protect Calgary homes, and why we became a GAF Master Elite® contractor.

1. More than 135 years of roofing firsts

GAF started in 1886 and has been leading the roofing industry ever since. They introduced ready-to-lay asphalt roll roofing in 1892 and the first individually cut asphalt shingles in 1912. Today GAF is North America's largest roofing manufacturer.

2. North America's #1-selling shingle

GAF Timberline HDZ® is the #1-selling shingle in North America. When millions of homeowners and contractors choose the same product, it's because it performs.

3. LayerLock™ technology: built for Calgary wind

Chinook winds and summer storms are a big reason roofs fail here. Timberline HDZ® shingles have LayerLock™ technology, which mechanically fuses the overlapping layers of each shingle together. Combined with the StrikeZone™ nailing area, the largest in the industry, it helps nails go exactly where they should, up to 99.9% accuracy.

That's why GAF can offer its WindProven™ limited wind warranty: 15 years of wind coverage with no maximum wind speed, when installed with qualifying GAF accessories. That's something very few shingles can say.

4. Colours that stay beautiful

A new roof should still look great years from now. GAF shingles come in rich, high-definition colour blends, and they're protected against the ugly black streaks caused by algae:

• Timberline HDZ®: 25-year StainGuard Plus™ algae protection limited warranty

• Timberline UHDZ®: 30-year StainGuard Plus PRO™ algae protection limited warranty

5. Real hail protection with Timberline UHDZ®

For homeowners who want the best protection against Calgary hail, Timberline UHDZ® has a UL 2218 Class 4 impact-resistance rating, the highest rating available. It also has a dual shadow line for a deeper, more dimensional look.

6. Some of the strongest warranties in the industry

GAF shingles come with a Lifetime Limited Warranty when installed with the required GAF accessories. And because we're a GAF Master Elite® contractor, a certification GAF says fewer than 2% of roofing contractors earn, we can offer GAF's enhanced warranty options that cover more and last longer. Ask us which warranty fits your project.

7. A complete roofing system, not just shingles

A roof is only as strong as its weakest part. We install GAF shingles together with GAF starter strips, leak barrier, roof deck protection, ventilation and ridge caps, so every layer is designed to work together and qualifies for GAF's stronger warranties.

Why it matters for you

Your roof protects everything under it. With GAF, you get proven products from a company that's been around since 1886, strong wind and algae warranties, Class 4 hail options, and a roof that keeps looking great for years. That's why we install GAF on Calgary homes, and why we'd put it on our own.
